My Saving No. 446 of 15th May.
Grant of Land to Anglo-Iranian Oil Company.
I attach copies of further correspondence with the Oil Company on this matter. You will see that the Company have accepted the termination of the contract on the terms set out in your saving No. 146 of 5th February. Grateful to know by early airmail:-
(i) Whether the Crown Rent paid for the second half
of 1950, namely H.K. $10,519, will now be returned to the Company;
(ii) Whether payment will be made here or in Hong Kong
and when it may be effected;
(iii) Whether you are prepared to accept the Company's
letter of the 17th May in reply to Colonial Office semi-official letter of 12th May (copied to you with my Despatch No. 127 LF of 15th May) as formal termination of the contract. My advisers see no objection to this proposal, provided that you are satisfied and that the Company does not owe anything further to your Government;
(iv) Whether I can be of any further assistance in this
matter.
